Mindful Parenting: Reflecting On Your Child’s Development

One of my most important, and sometimes challenging, tasks with a family, is to keep them current with their child’s development and their parenting skills.  I help them spend time thinking about what their children can do now that they couldn’t do in the past.  What new strengths have emerged?  What areas should we focusing on?  And what new expectations and goals can we set at this point in the year?  Which new tools each parent possesses that can help empower him or her?  And what are they enjoying most about the time they spend with their children and family?  The answers to those questions informs our next action steps.

Dana’s Tip
Take a moment to reflect!  Where are your children now?  Where are you?  Acknowledge the past; accept it as t was; embrace where you are now; and bring positive intentions to the future that awaits you.  Help your children do the same.  Be their role model in this task as you are in so many others.  You can do this!
